Getting to us You will be joining us for our adventure at Nursted Woods, just off the A227, Wrotham road between Instead Rise and Meopham, access via Nurstead Cricket Club, Nash Street, DA13 9AA. It’s just a hundred yards or so down on the right into an unmade track with a small, green sign saying Nursted Cricket Ground. Park through the gate in the grassy paddock on the right. NOT on the cricket pitch! We will meet you there and walk you to the toilets before taking everyone to base camp. Adults are welcome to join us as we encounter base camp and get settled or leave us at the carpark. Timings We will be ready to meet you in the carpark from 9:45am and you will be back at the carpark 12:30pm for a morning session. Or meet at the carpark at 12:30pm for an afternoon session and all sessions finish at 3pm. What to wear You will need to wear ankle-length trousers and a long-sleeved top whatever the weather. You will need sturdy, closed toes shoes, whatever the weather, wellies and boots are fine, old trainers are also good for having a good grip. You should bring layers of clothing appropriate to the weather including a waterproof and also if the weather looks warm, a sunhat. Remember it is cooler in the woods than out in the sunshine so pack extra clothes; You should bring spare clothes, especially if it is wet. At the least a spare pair of socks and ideally spare underwear and trousers for rain or toilet mishaps. Your clothes are likely to get dirty and may get torn, please do not wear clothes that you will be worried about damaging otherwise you will enjoy the experience less. Please do not wear clothes with hanging toggles or flowing material as they are dangerous around the campfire. Please check the material of all clothing is not flammable. You should apply insect repellent before you arrive and also sunscreen before attending if the weather looks like it will be necessary. You must have long hair tied back securely. What to bring You will need to bring a packed lunch in a secure container with your name on if staying all day, ideally nothing that will melt easily or is too tricky to eat without a table. You will be allowed to eat whenever you are hungry and as playing can be hungry work, ensure you pack plenty of food! Even if only coming for half a say we recommend bringing snacks. You will need to bring plenty of water – in as large a bottle as you can manage – with your name on it. Whatever the weather playing the woods can be thirsty business! If any medication is needed please put in a secure bag clearly labelled with your name and any instructions for use clearly included.
